Actually, the first Super Bowl was held on January 15, 1967; back then it was called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game.  The game was held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.  The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.  (NOTE: After Super Bowl V, it became a match between the AFC champion and the NFC champion, all thanks to the AFL-NFL merger)
